About the Polish Lowland Sheepdog
The Polish Lowland Sheepdog is a medium-sized herding dog from Poland, with a long, shaggy coat. It has an agile, sturdy body and was used for herding sheep and guarding farms. It is now also a companion, and benefits from regular activity and coat care. It is often called the PON, from its Polish name.
Temperament
Intelligent, alert and devoted, it is reserved with strangers and can be independent. It learns quickly and benefits from consistent, positive training.
Exercise
Needs about an hour of daily exercise and mental tasks such as training games. Off-lead time in a secure area helps.
Grooming
The shaggy coat needs brushing several times weekly to prevent matting.
Care & wellbeing
Keep the coat free of mats and check the ears and eyes.
